Returning to the experience of the patient who felt she was not listened to by her physician, made me realise that our patients want to tell their stories ... the presenting complaint is often the final piece in a jigsaw and it behoves the GP to see the entire picture. Some of that jigsaw may be made up of family discord, disappointments, failures, financial worries, gnawing symptoms that may not appear important but may actually be the missing the piece.
